Adults

Everyone has an equal place in the life and work of St. Philip.  We all have gifts God has bestowed on us to be used for the good of his kingdom on earth.  Those gifts, as we experience them at St. Philip, lead us in a number of directions.  This section gives you some idea of our current activities.

Sunday School

Learning is a life long process and we encourage all adults to engage in learning and faith talk.  St. Philip offers two adult Sunday school classes for that very purpose!

Weekday Bible Studies

St. Philip offers daytime and an evening Bible study classes. In addition to the Bible, we use a variety of study materials including the Kerygma Program. For more information, visit the Bible Study page.

Groups for Adults

Saints and Sinners: We are a group of adults who are very much interested in our church, our community and life in general. We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am in Luther Hall to enjoy lunch, fellowship and a program geared to our interests.

Book Club: The book club meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am in the parlor. Books are chosen by the club from a wide variety of subjects and genres. The title of the current book can be found in the monthly newsletter – The Epistle. The books chosen are easily available in bookstores, Amazon and at the Wake County Library. The Book Club has also been known to take road trips to learn more about or expand their experience with the book they are reading. Please join us to discuss the book of the month and and enjoy fellowship.

Fellowship Dinner Group:  Meets on the fourth Tuesday at 6:30 pm each month at a different restaurant for dinner & fellowship. For more information, call Carol Rogers 919-846-5446 or [email protected].

Ladies Lunch: The ladies of the church gather for lunch on the first Thursday of the month  at noon.  A different restaurant is chosen each month. Check out the latest Epistle Newsletter for the restaurant of the month. You do not need to be a member of the church to attend.  Please join us as we try new restaurants and old favorites. Maybe you have a favorite restaurant you would like to suggest.  We are always open to new places.

Fellowship Breakfast Group: The Breakfast Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month beginning at 9:30 am at iHop, 7471 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh.  Come join us for a good breakfast and great fellowship – bring a friend!

Piecemakers Quilting
We make quilts for Lutheran WorldRelief and other needy groups.  Quilt tops are made at home and tied at church.  We depend heavily on the generous fabric donations from the congregation.  Piecemakers Quilting meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 9:30am in the activity room, below Luther Hall.  For more information, call Barbara Burdette at [email protected]  919-761-5254.

Pub Ministry: meets once a month in the evening at various locations. Check the calendar, newsletter, or contact the church office for more information.

Puzzle Get-together
Do you enjoy working on jigsaw puzzles? Join us on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am in the Music Room. We work mostly on 350 piece puzzles that we finish in an hour or two, but sometimes work on a larger puzzle over a period of 2-3 months. This is a relaxing way to spend the morning with good fellowship and a feeling of accomplishment at the end.  Join us. You won’t regret it!

Mixed Softball Team

Trips:  Souls Walking Around Together (SWAT) is part of the Senior Ministry team who  organizes a variety of trips each year to tourist sights, government facilities, and schools. We travel to any place where we can learn something new. We enjoy fellowship during the travel time and sharing a meal together. It is a great way to get to know other travelers and learn something new. Guests are welcome to join us. Most of them are day trips. Check the current Epistle Newsletter for the next trip.
