Outreach and Youth Ministry Coordinator
This is a full time, leadership position reporting to the Pastor. The Outreach and Youth Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for working with professional and lay leaders in lifting up and enhancing the impact of St. Philip’s current ministries in the congregation and community; increasing volunteerism and engagement for children, youth, and adults; and leading our congregation to see and serve Christ in all people, as we strive for justice and wholeness for our neighbors in Raleigh.
Outreach and Youth Ministry Job Description
Outreach responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the St. Philip community in relational outreach that connects with those outside our congregation and invites them into a life of faith.
- Create relationships of service in the Raleigh community encouraging congregational involvement.
- Utilize networking, social media, and promotional tools for outreach to the Raleigh area;
- Work with the welcoming team to direct the care of guests from their initial contact through their engagement as active members, connecting them to experiences and service through which they can deepen their understanding and practice of their faith.
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external community partners for the advancement of existing and future ministries.
Youth Ministry responsibilities:
- Provide monthly mailings to St. Philip children to support parents in teaching their kids at home.
- Deliver weekly children’s sermons at worship services.
- Provide a middle and high school youth group experience virtually or in person twice monthly.
- Collaborate with the Pastor to teach confirmation.
- Acknowledge milestones in the lives of the church community.
- Maintain NC Synod involvement through Lutheran Youth Organization and Youth Gathering.
Skills:
- Ability to work cooperatively in team ministry.
- Highly effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to use technology and social media for education and community outreach.
Qualifications:
- An understanding of and commitment to Christian principles and Lutheran theology.
- Experience working with children and youth.
- A four year degree is desirable.

Salary offered: $32,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
