Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

Baptism

In baptism, God initiates a relationship with us, embraces us and claims us as loved, forgiven children of God. God chooses us and we respond to God’s choosing us in baptism. In baptism God gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit, and promises us new life in this world and in eternal life. In a personal way, God’s Spirit comes into our hearts to empower us in our faith, love and our new life with Christ.

In order for us at St Philip to welcome newly baptized members into our church community, we request that all baptisms be held during one of our worship services. Also, it is a church policy that the pastor at St. Philip Lutheran Church must be present at the baptisms held at St. Philip Lutheran Church.

Please contact the church office at (919) 846-2992 or at [email protected] if you are interested in being baptized or having a family member baptized. You will be asked to provide the following information for the baptism certificate:

  • First, middle and last name of person being baptized
  • Date of birth
  • City and State of birth
  • Address and phone number
  • If this is a child baptism, parent’s names, address and phone number
  • Sponsor names (if applicable)

As we spend time together in preparing for your baptism or your family member’s baptism, please know that we want your baptism or your family member’s baptism to be a treasured and meaningful experience.
