What’s Your S.H.A.P.E.?

While we all do different things to make a living and like different things, we all have the same purpose…to use our talents, abilities, interests, personality, and experience for the building up of the body of Christ and to the glory of God.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Understanding who God made you to be, your unique S.H.A.P.E. will help you discover what God’s called you to do and how God has equipped you to partner with God and others in the work that God is doing.

S.H.A.P.E. is an acrostic intended to help us identify where we are naturally gifted and equipped. It stands for Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experience. As you begin unpacking your God-given S.H.A.P.E., it is our earnest prayer that you will understand more fully how it is that you can serve God and God’s people – so that your passion can meet God’s purpose!

Imagine the excitement and momentum that will be created when every person connected to the faith community at St. Philip is using their spiritual gifts, hearts, abilities, personalities, and experiences to love God with all our hearts, minds, strength, and souls and to love our neighbors as ourselves.  Let’s make a commitment to bring this vision into reality as we build up the Body of Christ to the glory of God!
