Confirmation at St. Philip begins in the 6th grade; however, if your child is older, he/she may begin at any time. The confirmation program is built to take at the minimum two years. We understand that sometimes youth are not ready to be confirmed at the end of those two years, or they need extra time to complete the confirmation requirements. Our program is designed to accommodate those who need to take an extra year or two. We use the Here We Stand curriculum from Augsburg Fortress.
Each confirmand is partnered with an adult member of the congregation who serves as a mentor throughout the confirmation program.
The confirmation program includes:
- Confirmation Sunday School
- Sunday evening Confirmation Classes
- Worship Participation
- Final Confirmation Project
- Confirmation Camp
- Youth Group Activity
Confirmation Sunday School
Our 6th and 7th graders journey through the Old and New Testaments in alternating years as part of their confirmation experience. The confirmation Sunday school class uses the Here We Stand curriculum from Augsburg Fortress. This class meets from 9:45-10:45 in the basement of education building from September through May.
